Vic Black: Joins independent-league team
Black signed with the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Black owns a 2.96 ERA in 51.2 major-league innings but last pitched in the big leagues in 2015. He has battled shoulder injuries since then and struggled to a 5.25 ERA in 36 innings in the Giants' minor-league system last year.

Giants' Vic Black: Signs minor-league contract
Black signed a minor league contract with the Giants on Friday, Rich MacLeod of MLB.com reports.
Black hasn't pitched in the majors since 2014 and is coming off shoulder surgery, but Giants scouts saw him throwing 97 MPH in workouts and decided their former reliever was worth a flyer. The Giants bullpen has been ineffective thus far (4.89 ERA), and anybody who brings that kind of heat is enticing for a club in that situation.
