Rangers' Marcus Semien: Expected to have normal offseason
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Semien (foot) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Semien last played in late August due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot, but he has not encountered any setbacks in his recovery and will not have his offseason training interrupted. The veteran second baseman slashed .230/.305/.364 with 15 home runs and 11 stolen bases over 127 contests in 2025.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Moves to 60-day IL
The Rangers transferred Semien (foot) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.
Semien has already been ruled out for the 2025 season due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot. His move to the 60-day IL will simply act as a way to clear space on the 40-man roster for Dom Hamel, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Saturday.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Ruled out for 2025
Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Semien (foot) will not play again this season, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Semien resumed taking live BP and running Friday, but with the Rangers five games out of a wild-card spot with six to play, the team will pull the plug on its efforts to get the veteran infielder back in the lineup this year. He'll close the book on 2025 with a career-low .669 OPS alongside 15 homers, 62 RBI, 62 runs scored and 11 steals through 127 games. Cody Freeman projects to be the Rangers' primary second baseman for the remainder of the regular season.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: More baseball activity
Semien (foot) took live batting practice and did some running Friday, MLB.com reports.
Semien ramped up his activity this week and is hoping to get on the field with the limited time left in the regular season. The Rangers have lost five consecutive games and sit five games back of the final wild-card spot with eight left to play. Ultimately, whether Semien returns to the active roster may depend on the team's slim playoff hopes.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Takes batting practice Monday
Semien (foot) was spotted taking batting practice on the field Monday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The team has yet to offer up a timeline for Semien's return after he went down with a broken left foot in late August, but it's a positive sign that he's progressed to taking on-field BP. Texas is a few games back from a wild-card spot, so the club would certainly welcome Semien back into the fold down the stretch if he's cleared for game action.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Could be done for season
Semien said after Sunday's 5-0 win over the Guardians that he has been diagnosed with a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot, which will likely require 4-to-6 weeks of recovery, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Texas placed Semien on the 10-day injured list Saturday with what the team listed as a left foot contusion, but follow-up tests on the foot evidently revealed that he was dealing with structural damage. With five weeks left in the regular season, the 34-year-old now appears at risk of being shut down for 2025, unless the Rangers are able to clinch a playoff spot and make a deep run in October. Ezequiel Duran drew the start at second base Sunday, and he could handle the bulk of the work at that position while Semien is on the shelf.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Shelved with bruised foot
Texas placed Semien on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a left foot contusion.
Semien has been out of the lineup since Thursday, when he fouled a ball off his left foot during a game against the Royals. Though the veteran infielder is slated to meet with a foot doctor Sunday, the Rangers decided not to wait until the results of that meeting to place him on the IL. The transaction made room on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Adolis Garcia (ankle), who was reinstated from the IL. Semien's everyday role at second base could be assumed by a combination of Ezequiel Duran, Josh Smith and/or Cody Freeman, the latter of whom will start at the position Saturday versus Cleveland.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Meeting with specialist Sunday
Semien (foot) is slated to meet with a foot doctor Sunday and will not play Saturday, Matthew Postins of SI.com reports.
Semien hasn't played since being removed from Thursday's contest against Kansas City a few innings after fouling a ball off his foot. The veteran infielder has so far had an X-Ray, CAT scan and MRI, with results of the latter coming back inconclusive. Semien's medical evaluation should provide more clarity about the specifics of his injury and a return timeline. It's unlikely that he'll play in any capacity this weekend.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Imaging inconclusive
Semien (foot) underwent an MRI on Friday that came back inconclusive, MLB.com reports.
Semien fouled a ball off his foot during the series finale against the Royals on Thursday and was held out of Friday's lineup. He remained in a walking boot and could miss the entire weekend set against the Guardians. Ezequiel Duran started at second base in Semien's place.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Absent from Friday's lineup
Semien (foot) is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Guardians on Friday.
Semien fouled a ball off his left foot during Thursday's game against the Royals and was diagnosed with a foot contusion. Per Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com, Semien is in jeopardy of missing the entire weekend series, so his absence from Friday's lineup isn't surprising. Ezequiel Duran will draw the start at the keystone and bat eighth.

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Could be held out all weekend
Semien (foot) could miss the entire weekend series against the Guardians and a trip to the 10-day injured list is possible, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Semien had to be lifted from Thursday's game versus the Royals due to a left foot contusion after fouling a ball off the area. He has not been diagnosed with any fractures, but evidently the discomfort could keep him out a handful of days or longer. Ezequiel Duran, Cody Freeman and Josh Smith and Michael Helman are options to play second base for the Rangers while Semien is out.
