Top Jarrett Grube News

  • Indians' Jarrett Grube: Placed on disabled list

Grube was put on the 7-day DL on Friday with right hand discomfort.

Grube has put together a decent year at the Triple-A level this season, posting a 4.80 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 75 innings of work. He will miss the next week with this injury, and could be out for an extended period of time if it's determined that this is a significant issue.

  • Indians' Jarrett Grube: Traded to Cleveland

The Blue Jays traded Grube to the Indians on Sunday for cash considerations, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

As a 35-year-old with a 6.14 ERA over 55.2 frames with Triple-A Buffalo this season, Grube was little more than organizational filler for the Blue Jays, so moving him will free up more innings for some younger arms. Grube, who has one career appearance in the majors to his name (with the Angels in 2014), doesn't look to have a much easier path back to the big leagues as he changes organizations.

  • Blue Jays' Jarrett Grube: Signs with Blue Jays

Grube signed a minor league contract with Toronto on Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

Grube is an unlikely candidate to make the big league squad, but part of the deal includes an invite to spring training. The 35-year-old posted a 3.92 ERA in 26 minor league outings in 2016. Grube, a righty, has logged just 0.2 major league innings (back in 2014 with the Angels).

  • Mariners' Jarrett Grube: Outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma

Grube was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Grube didn't pitch in the big leagues this season, and his performance at the Triple-A level didn't give the Mariners much incentive to keep him on their 40-man roster. Between Triple-A Columbus and Tacoma, Grube posted a 4.13 ERA and 1.22 WHIP .

  • Mariners' Jarrett Grube: Optioned to Triple-A

Grube was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.

Grube's recent call-up to the bigs was short-lived as he was sent back down to Tacoma on Thursday. He did not make it into Wednesday's contest following his promotion and the Mariners have yet to announce a corresponding roster move.

  • Mariners' Jarrett Grube: Likely headed back to Triple-A soon

Grube, who was called up Wednesday, could be sent back to Triple-A Tacoma this weekend, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

The Mariners needed a fresh arm, and Grube was it. He was scheduled to start Wednesday at Tacoma. Grube, though, is not considered a candidate for the Seattle rotation, so the team likely will add a starting pitcher Friday, which will cost Grube his spot.

  • Mariners' Jarrett Grube: Recalled from Triple-A Tacoma

Grube was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Grube had been with the Indians' Triple-A affiliate for part of the season before being released and signing a minor league contract with the Mariners. He's posted a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 10 appearances with the club's Tacoma affiliate. Home runs have been a problem for Grube all season, as he's allowed 14 over 90 Triple-A innings.

  • Indians' Jarrett Grube: Allows three runs

Grube gave up four hits and three earned runs in 1.2 innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Columbus.

Grube finished last season with Columbus, and he will begin 2016 right where he left off. He had a tremendous year in 2015, going 9-0 in 13 starts with a 2.26 ERA in 79.2 innings with the club. The 34-year-old also turned in an impressive spring with the Indians, throwing nine innings without giving up an earned run. Even though he has only pitched in one career game in the majors, Grube has a chance to contribute at some point during the season if he continues to pitch well for Columbus.
