Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH5H agoWell that's one way to do it. Probably the craziest game of the season ends on an error. Pirates win, 13-12. They nearly blew a 12-7 lead and used 7 pitchers ... but got it done. Pirates & Giants combine for 25 runs, 35 hits & 3 innings featuring at least 5 runs, 1 with 9. -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf5H ago13-12 Pirates. Final. Devers whiffed on a throw that bounced to him but was very accurate. Had he caught it, this would have gone to extras. Giants simply wanted it less. https://t.co/uEESE7usvi -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH5H agoGiants with their second five-run inning of the night, this time in the eighth. They force a 12-12 tie via a bases-loaded walk to Basabe, then a 2-run double for Cavanaugh and a 2-run single by Furman. This game has been bonkers. Pirates led 12-7 and 11-5. -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf5H agoIt’s 12-12. Story of the season. Every time it looks like the Pirates are starting to put it together, they fall flat on their face. https://t.co/COwRdz7lp1 -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH6H agoThere's a gentleman here who has been screaming to hear Donnie Iris for at least three innings. The Pirates need a better victory song. Just sayin' ... -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH7H agoPirates’ 3rd by the numbers: 34:44: Elapsed time 15: Batters to the plate 9: Runs and hits 0: Extra-base hits -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf7H agoIt’s 11-5 Pirates after after a 34 minute, 44 second, nine-run third -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH7H agoPirates get nine runs on nine hits in the third. They now have an 11-5 lead. Crazy game. Not a single extra-base in the bunch. Everyone but Triolo has a hit. Everyone but Gonzalez has scored a run. Cruz already 3 for 3 with 4 RBI. -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH7H agoHenry Davis with a two-run single, line drive to right. That bumps Logan Webb from the game. Pirates take a 7-5 lead with a five-run third. -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf7H agoThis matchup of Paul Skenes and Logan Webb — both of whom finished in the top four of Cy Young last year and have been All-Stars the last three years — has been a shootout. 7-5 Pirates, bottom third after putting the first seven runners on base. Webb’s evening is done.
