    The Royals released Hechavarria on Monday. Hechavarria has spent all of this season at Triple-A Omaha, batting only .220/.291/.425 over 36 games. The 34-year-old infielder will now seek out another opportunity in a new organization.

  • Royals' Adeiny Hechavarria: Latches on with KC

    Hechavarria signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Friday and will report to Triple-A Omaha. Hechavarria lasted played in the majors in 2020. He most recently played for Long Island in the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, slashing .297/.382/.538 with seven home runs, 34 RBI and 29 runs scored over 38 contests. He'll likely serve as organizational depth for the Royals.

    Atlanta reassigned Hechavarria to minor-league camp Tuesday. Hechavarria hasn't played affiliated ball since 2020 and logged just one hit over 11 at-bats this spring. He will most likely begin the season in Triple-A Gwinnett as he continues to knock the rust off.

  • Braves' Adeiny Hechavarria: Gets NRI deal with ATL

    Hechavarria agreed Monday with Atlanta on a minor-league contract and received an invitation to MLB spring training, Chris Harris of the Mississippi Braves reports. Hechavarria returns to the Atlanta organization after spending the previous two seasons with the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan. The 33-year-old infielder will attempt to win a bench spot with Atlanta with a strong showing in spring training, and the fact he can play all over the infield certainly won't hurt his chances.
