  • David Price: Taking 2023 off

Price's agent Bo McKinnis announced Tuesday the left-hander doesn't plan to pitch in 2023, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Price spent the past two seasons with the Dodgers and primarily worked out of the bullpen, and he had a 2.45 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB across 40.1 innings during 2022. This doesn't appear to be a formal retirement, but a year off at 37 years could very well be the end of his 14-year MLB career.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Earns second save

Price walked one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Padres.

Price didn't face much of a challenge to earn his third career save and his second of the season. This was his first appearance in a month after he missed time with wrist inflammation. The southpaw should continue to see high-leverage work as part of the late-inning mix in the Dodgers' bullpen. He has a 2.52 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB while adding four holds and two wins through 39.1 innings this year.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Returns from injured list

Price (wrist) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

The veteran left-hander has been sidelined by wrist inflammation for nearly a month but will rejoin the active roster for the final week of the regular season. Price has been a solid bullpen piece for Los Angeles this year with a 2.58 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 37:8 K:BB across 38.1 innings.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Facing live hitters Thursday

Price (wrist) will throw a simulated inning against live hitters Thursday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Price looks to be close to the end of his recovery process now that he is scheduled to face hitters. No official return date has been announced, but the 37-year-old veteran could possibly make a return within the next few days.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Planning to retire after season

Price (wrist) said Saturday in an interview with Bob Nightengale of USA Today that he plans to retire following the 2022 season. "Everything on my body hurts," said Price, who is currently on the injured list with left wrist inflammation. "It's just time [to retire]."

Price is in the final season of the seven-year, $217 million deal he inked with the Red Sox back in December 2015, and because he's transitioned into a relief role during his two years with the Dodgers since opting out of the 2020 season, he likely wouldn't be in store for a lucrative deal on the open market this winter heading into what would be his age-37 campaign. Moreover, the left-hander has dealt with an assortment of injuries throughout his career, though he's been reasonably effective out of the Los Angeles bullpen when healthy this season with a 2.58 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 37:8 K:BB across 38.1 innings. The five-time All-Star remains hopeful to return from the IL during the upcoming week and should re-emerge as a key middle-to-late-inning arm for the Dodgers in the postseason as he looks to conclude his career by claiming his second World Series ring this fall.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Close to facing hitters

Price (wrist) is expected to face hitters when the Dodgers return home early next week, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Price threw off a mound Wednesday and is throwing another bullpen session Saturday. The southpaw will take another step in his recovery process once he faces hitters, and it's possible that he'll be reinstated from the injured list at some point next week.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Throws bullpen session

Price (wrist) tossed a bullpen session Wednesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Price has been on the injured list with left wrist inflammation since Sept. 4, and this was his first time throwing off a mound since that date. He's reportedly been dealing with the issue for months, though he's put up strong numbers in 38 appearances out of the bullpen. Per MLB.com, Price expects to return before the end of the regular season.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Goes on IL

The Dodgers placed Price (wrist) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Just as manager Dave Roberts hinted would be the case following Saturday's 12-1 win over the Padres, Price was deactivated ahead of Sunday's series finale while he recovers from left wrist inflammation. The issue has reportedly been bothering Price all season, so he could be shelved beyond the minimum 15 days while the Dodgers aim to get him back to optimal health in advance of the playoffs. Price had been pitching effectively of late in spite of the injury, logging a 1.13 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 16 innings over his 16 relief appearances since the All-Star break.

  • Dodgers' David Price: Headed to injured list

Price (wrist) will be placed on the 15-day injured list prior to Sunday's game, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Left wrist inflammation will sideline Price indefinitely. Manager Dave Roberts said Price "hasn't been healthy all year," Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports -- a bit of a surprise given how well the lefty has pitched in relief this season. Ryan Pepiot will take Price's roster spot and handle bulk-relief duty Sunday against the Padres.
