The Mets have outrighted pitcher Justin Hampson off the 40-man roster, Marc Carig of Newsday reported Tuesday. Hampson is now a free agent.
The 32-year-old lefty appeared in 13 games with the Mets in 2012, 10 of those as a September call-up. It his first major league action since a stint with the Padres in 2008. Hampson recorded a 1.80 ERA but walked more batters (5) than he struck out (4).
