The Mariners have signed first baseman Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, Greg Johns of MLB.com reported Thursday.
Jacobs, 32, played 13 games for the Diamondbacks in 2012 and hit .211/.348/.263 in 23 plate appearances. From 2006 through 2009 (Jacobs's last year as a full-time starter) the lefty hit .251/.310/.463 with 88 home runs over 519 games, the first three of those seasons coming with the Marlins.
Jacobs spent the bulk of 2012 at Triple-A Reno in the Diamondbacks organization, where he hit .279/.362/.486 with 18 home runs in 101 games played.
