  • James Hagens C | BOS

Bruins' James Hagens: Lights lamp again Monday

Hagens scored an unassisted goal in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

The 19-year-old spoiled a combined shutout bid for Ottawa with an aggressive forecheck early in the third period, as his pressure forced Samuel Ersson to misplay the puck in the corner and allowed Hagens to bank the puck home off the netminder as he scrambled to get back in position. It was a strong recovery for Hagens after it was his neutral-zone giveaway in the second period that led directly to a Drake Batherson tally. Growing pains are to be expected for the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, but Hagens has his first two NHL goals in four contests to begin the current campaign while adding seven shots on net, four hits, three blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-1 rating while skating on the third line at even strength and the second power-play unit.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Rough night against Sens

Swayman made 20 saves in Monday's 4-1 loss to Ottawa.

The Bruins' defense was lackluster, to say the least, in front of Swayman. The Senators' first two goals were scored on 2-on-1 counter-attacks on the same Boston power play in the first period, while Drake Batherson's tally early in the second came on a clean breakaway from the blue line after a neutral zone turnover. The loss was Swayman's first of the season after two wins, but he's still allowed just seven goals on 81 total shots, thanks largely to a shutout of the Rangers in the Bruins' opener.

  • Michael Amadio RW | OTT

Senators' Michael Amadio: Two points in Monday's win

Amadio scored an even-strength goal and added a shorthanded assist in Monday's 4-1 win over the Bruins. He also delivered two shots on net, a blocked shot and a plus-3 rating.

The 30-year-old was a menace alongside Tim Stutzle on the penalty kill, and Amadio fed the star center for the game's opening tally midway through the first period after intercepting a Boston pass in his own zone and launching a 2-on-1 break. Amadio scored his own goal early in the second, potting Ottawa's fourth on a one-timer from in close. He's off to a quick start to the season, collecting two goals and three points in two games, but Amadio's highly unlikely to maintain that pace -- his career high in goals in 16 from 2022-23 with the Golden Knights, and his best effort in points was the 35 he produced for the Sens last season.

  • Tim Stutzle C | OTT

Senators' Tim Stutzle: Three points in win over Boston

Stutzle scored two goals, one shorthanded and the other the game-winner, with an even-strength assist in Monday's 4-1 win over the Bruins. He added three shots on net, a hit, a blocked shot and a plus-3 rating to his ledger.

The star center opened the scoring midway through the first period, converting on the counter-attack after Michael Amadio stole the puck in the Ottawa end to launch a 2-on-1 break. Stutzle then scored what proved to be the winner less than two minutes later just after that same Boston power play had expired, only this time he was the one intercepting the pass and launching the break. Stutzle has jumped out to a quick start to 2026-27 with two goals and four points in two games, as he looks to reach the 80-point plateau for the third time in his career.

  • Senators' Samuel Ersson: Needed in relief Monday

Ersson turned aside eight of the nine shots he faced after replacing Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) to begin the third period of Monday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Ullmark was shaken up late in the second period after a collision with JJ Peterka, but per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia, Senators coach Travis Green indicated his removal for the final frame was just precautionary. The decision still resulted in Ersson seeing his first action for his new team in a relatively low-stress situation, as Ottawa held a 4-0 lead after two periods. Ersson likely would have been in line anyway to get his first start of the season Tuesday in Detroit, but the Sens may need to summon help from AHL Belleville to back him up if Ullmark needs additional recovery time.

  • Lightning's Ilya Mikheyev: Two-point effort Monday

Mikheyev scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

The veteran winger helped set up a Pontus Holmberg tally in the second period that proved to be the game-winner, then found the back of the net himself late in the third on a nifty wraparound. Mikheyev is skating on the third line and isn't getting power-play time to begin his Tampa Bay tenure, but he's still been productive with a goal and three points in his first three games.

  • Lightning's Pontus Holmberg: Two points including game-winner Monday

Holmberg scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Monday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

The 27-year-old gave the Lightning a 2-0 lead just 17 seconds into the second period, ripping a shot from the faceoff circle past Dan Vladar to convert a 3-on-1 break. The points were Holmberg's first of the season in three games, as the bottom-six forward looks to match or improve on a career-best 2025-26 campaign in which he managed 11 goals and 22 points in 70 regular-season contests.

  • Lightning's Nikita Kucherov: Two helpers against Philly

Kucherov notched two assists in Monday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

The superstar winger had a hand in Brayden Point's first-period tally to open the scoring, as well as Brandon Hagel's empty-netter late in the third. It was Kucherov's first multi-point performance on the young season, and through three games he's collected a goal and four points as he looks to reach triple digits for a fifth straight campaign.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Sharp in Monday's win

Vasilevskiy made 13 saves in Monday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

The Lightning out-shot the visitors 36-14 on the night, and the one puck that did get past Vasilevskiy was something of a fluke -- Tyson Foerster floated a shot through traffic that would have gone wide of the net had it not deflected off Charle-Edouard D'Astous as he battled with Porter Martone at the edge of the crease. Vasilevskiy was beaten four times in an Opening Night loss to the Rangers, but since then he's been locked in, winning two straight starts while allowing two goals on 35 shots.

  • Tyson Foerster RW | PHI

Flyers' Tyson Foerster: Pots first goal of season

Foerster scored his first goal of the season in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Lightning.

The 24-year-old winger spoiled Andrei Vasilevskiy's shutout bid midway through the second period, snapping a shot through traffic that deflected home off Charle-Edouard D'Astous. It was Foerster's first point in four games, but the entire Flyers offense is off to a sluggish start to the season with just five total goals during that stretch.
