Pavel Buchnevich LW | STL
Blues' Pavel Buchnevich: Pots empty-netter Saturday
Buchnevich scored an empty-net goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets.
This was Buchnevich's first goal and second point through five games this season. The 31-year-old forward has been playing on the third line lately, though he could be a candidate to move back into the top six if Jonatan Berggren's performance drops. Buchnevich has added seven shots on net, three hits and a plus-1 rating. He had 20 goals and 48 points over 81 regular-season contests, his worst totals in his first five years with the Blues.

Andrei Vasilevskiy G | TB
Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Wins goalie duel vs Sorokin
Vasilevskiy made 20 saves in a 5-3 win over the Islanders on Saturday.
It was a netminding duel with Ilya Sorokin -- the winner wasn't scored until the 18:16 mark of the third, and the Bolts then potted one into an empty net. Vasilevskiy is 3-1-0 in four starts, and after allowing four goals in his first outing, he has surrendered just five in his last three games. His GAA is 2.29; his .892 save percentage will improve.

Jimmy Snuggerud RW | STL
Blues' Jimmy Snuggerud: Scores twice in win
Snuggerud scored two goals on three shots in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets.
Snuggerud had been held off the scoresheet in the previous three games. It's been an inconsistent start to the season for the Blues' top line, but it's encouraging Snuggerud is maintaining his spot there. He has three goals, one assist, 12 shots on net, six hits and a minus-1 rating over five contests.

Jordan Binnington G | STL
Blues' Jordan Binnington: Gives up three goals in win
Binnington stopped 20 of 23 shots in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets.
He allowed the first two goals of the game, but the Blues' offense stepped up over the final two periods. Binnington has given up nine goals on 59 shots over his two outings this season, going 1-1-0 in his starts. The 33-year-old will need to perform a bit better to mount a realistic challenge to Joel Hofer's No. 1 status between the pipes. The Blues are on the road over the next week, beginning their three-game trip in Ottawa on Tuesday.

Jacob Fowler G | MON
Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Records shutout in SO victory
Fowler stopped all 30 shots he faced in Saturday's 1-0 shootout win over the Red Wings.
Just like Daniil Tarasov, Fowler was perfect through regulation and overtime en route to posting a 30-save performance. The young netminder turned aside 20 even-strength shots and 10 power-play shots, and his excellent play allowed the Canadiens to earn the win in the shootout, as Zachary Bolduc eventually secured the victory with a sixth-round shootout goal. Fowler could continue to see playing time due to Sam Montembeault's lower-body injury.

Daniil Tarasov G | DET
Red Wings' Daniil Tarasov: Makes 30 saves in SO loss
Tarasov stopped all 30 shots he faced in Saturday's 1-0 shootout loss to the Canadiens.
Tarasov delivered a flawless performance through regulation and overtime, turning aside 25 even-strength shots and five power-play shots, matching Jacob Fowler save for save throughout the contest. However, Detroit couldn't find the back of the net, and Tarasov was eventually beaten by Zachary Bolduc in the sixth round of the shootout. This was Tarasov's first start with the Red Wings and his second appearance, as he had previously featured in relief in the 6-3 loss to the Kraken on Oct. 9, when he stopped eight of nine shots. The 27-year-old should remain as the Red Wings' No. 2 goaltender behind John Gibson despite back-to-back strong displays.

Victor Hedman D | TB
Lightning's Victor Hedman: Gets helper as ice time drops
Hedman picked up an assist in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders.
Hedman has settled into a different role this season -- his ice time has dropped and this assist was his first of the season. His season average ice time is 14:00, down from a career average of 23:16 and 18:52 last year. Saturday, Hedman played just 10:34, the least of the Bolts' seven defenders. His assist was his 812th career point to move him into third place by a defenseman born outside of North America in NHL history. The only others with more are Nicklas Lidstrom (1,142) and Erik Karlsson (941).

Maxwell Crozier D | TB
Lightning's Max Crozier: Two apples help down Isles
Crozier put up two assists Saturday in a 5-3 win over the Islanders.
It was the second two-point game of Crozier's career. The other came Oct. 11, 2005. Crozier has impressed beside veteran star Victor Hedman, but he won't put up a lot of offense. His best pro output came in 2024-25 when he tallied nine goals and 25 assists in 52 regular-season games with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).

Nikita Kucherov RW | TB
Lightning's Nikita Kucherov: Two apples to extend season streak
Kucherov posted two assists Saturday in a 5-3 win over the Islanders.
He extended his season-long point streak to eight points (one goal, seven assists) in five games. Kucherov oddly has just seven shots in that span -- he has averaged 268 over the last four regular seasons. The shots will come, and so will the goals.

Jake Guentzel C | TB
Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Shows off sniping in win
Guentzel scored twice in a 5-3 win over the Islanders on Saturday.
One came on the power play. Guentzel three points, including two goals, in his last two contests and six points (three goals, three assists) in five games so far. Guentzel has delivered 36 or more goals in three of his last four seasons, and he's poised for another strong offensive year.
