  • Connor Brown RW | NJ

Devils' Connor Brown: Set to miss at least one week

Brown (lower body) won't play against Utah on Tuesday and Vancouver on Saturday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Brown has already missed the first two games of the 2026-27 campaign. He has been skating on his own, but it's unclear when he will be ready to return. Brown earned 18 goals, 43 points and 116 shots on net in 75 appearances for New Jersey during the 2025-26 regular season.

  • Rangers' Matthew Robertson: Held out Monday

Robertson was being held out of practice Monday for "roster management reasons," Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports.

Robertson could land on the waiver wire later Monday, or there could be a trade in the works, but either way, the 25-year-old defenseman looks unlikely to play against the Islanders on Tuesday. With the emergence of Alberts Smits, the 25-year-old Robertson has yet to get into a game for the Rangers this season and has become an expendable piece of the roster.

  • Matt Roy D | WAS

    Capitals' Matt Roy: Considered day-to-day

Roy (lower body) is day-to-day, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News on Monday.

Roy didn't participate in Monday's practice after getting hurt in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay. If the 31-year-old Roy isn't available for Wednesday's home opener against Pittsburgh, Dylan McIlrath will probably make his 2026-27 debut.

  • Kaiden Guhle D | MON

Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Nearing return to game action

Head coach Martin St. Louis said Monday that Guhle (groin) is getting close to being ready to play, Stu Cowan of The Montreal Gazette reports.

St. Louis said that he isn't sure whether Guhle will require one or two more weeks to recover, but the 24-year-old defenseman appears to be trending in the right direction following minor adductor surgery that he underwent during the offseason. Guhle made 39 regular-season appearances last year and recorded two goals, nine assists, 86 hits, 63 blocked shots and 41 PIM while averaging 19:28 of ice time.

  • Senators' Jake Sanderson: Out for remainder of road trip

Sanderson (lower body) will miss at least the next two games, starting with Monday's matchup against Boston, Jackson Starr of the Senators' official site reports.

Sanderson's injury isn't as bad as the Senators first thought, but he has returned to Ottawa and will miss the remainder of the team's season-opening road trip. It's unclear when the 24-year-old blueliner will be ready to return. He logged only 4:29 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 win over Toronto. Cameron Crotty will replace Sanderson in Monday's lineup against the Bruins.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Defending road crease Monday

Ullmark will start Monday's road game against Boston, Senators on-air host Jackson Starr reports.

Ullmark drew the Opening Night start in Toronto on Saturday and turned aside 27 of 29 shots in a 3-2 victory. He'll remain in the crease for Monday's matchup and will attempt to continue his winning ways against the Maple Leafs, who have lost two of their first three regular-season games.

  • Flyers' Nikita Grebenkin: Lands on injured reserve

Grebenkin (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.

Grebenkin has already missed the required week of action, so at this point he can be activated whenever given the all-clear. Still, the move will rule the forward out for Monday's clash with the Lightning, while Denver Barkey looks set to make his season debut.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Tending twine against San Jose

Oettinger will start Monday's home game against the Sharks, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports.

Oettinger drew the Opening Night start at home against the Blues on Friday, and he allowed two goals on 22 shots during the 4-0 loss, with two goals being empty-netters. He got the night off in the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday in Nashville but will return to the crease a few days later in search of his first win of the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Bowen Byram D | CHI

Blackhawks' Bowen Byram: Back with team

Byram (personal) participated in Monday's practice, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

Byram missed Saturday's 4-3 loss to Buffalo because of a family matter. He didn't get to play against his former team, but he should return to the lineup against St. Louis on Tuesday. Byram skated on the top power-play unit during Monday's practice.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Skating with teammates

Bedard (shoulder) was on the ice for Monday's practice session, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Bedard is not expected back in the lineup until November, but his presence at Monday's practice is certainly a step in the right direction. Given the length of his absence at the start of the season, the 21-year-old center is unlikely to reach the 70-point mark this year. Still, once cleared to play, Bedard figures to be a point-per-game player with significant offensive upside.
