  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Raiders' Kenyan Drake: Plays second fiddle to Barber

Drake had eight carries for 24 yards and caught three of six targets for 33 yards during Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Dolphins.

Drake played 71 percent of the offensive snaps in the absence of Josh Jacobs (ankle) in Week 2, but it was Peyton Barber who dominated the backfield work against Miami on Sunday with 26 touches for 142 yards and a touchdown with Jacobs missing his second straight game. Drake and Barber split things pretty evenly during the first half with six and eight carries, respectively, but Drake had only four touches after halftime. It appears Drake's role as a pass-catching back won't change much week-to-week, regardless of whether or not Jacobs misses any more time.

  • AJ Dillon RB | CAR

Packers' AJ Dillon: Role remains minimal

Dillon recorded six carries for 18 yards and two receptions for eight yards in Sunday's 30-28 victory over the 49ers.

Dillon received a season-high eight touches in Sunday's contest, but for the third time in as many games he put up only 26 yards from scrimmage. He's going to have a tough time getting on track Week 4, as the Packers will face a Steelers defense that has been stingy on opposing running backs. However, Dillon is worth hanging onto in most formats, as he would presumably assume most or all of Aaron Jones' workload should Green Bay's starting running back be unavailable for any reason.

  • Mike Boone RB | MIA

Broncos' Mike Boone: May start to practice this week

Coach Vic Fangio said Monday that Boone (quadriceps) may start to practice this week, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Boone was carried onto Denver's initial 53-man roster after being placed on IR, so he is eligible to return this week. If healthy, the 26-year-old running back will likely overtake Damarea Crockett, who has been promoted to the active roster ahead of each game this season, as the Broncos' third back behind Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon.

  • Tony Jones RB | ARI

Saints' Tony Jones: Four touches against Patriots

Jones rushed twice for 12 yards and caught two of two targets for 10 yards during Sunday's 28-13 win over the Patriots.

With Alvin Kamara again commanding over 80 percent of the offensive snaps, Jones was nothing more than a change-of-pace option who seemingly lacks the standalone fantasy value that Latavius Murray once had with the Saints. As such, the 11 carries Jones saw Week 1 against Green Bay are looking more and more like a product of the blowout nature of the game than anything else. While Jones would have significant fantasy value if anything happens to Kamara, he's probably not even a consideration for the flex spot otherwise.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Won't go on IR

Coach Matt Rhule said Monday that McCaffrey (hamstring) won't be placed on injured reserve, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.

McCaffrey left Thursday's win over the Texans with a hamstring injury, and Rhule said last week that he expects the 25-year-old to miss a few weeks. However, the Panthers are optimistic that the running back will be back in action within three weeks since he isn't expected to require an IR stint. Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman should lead the rushing attack while McCaffrey is sidelined.

  • Titans' Jeremy McNichols: Finds end zone on limited touches

McNichols recorded two rushes for six yards in Sunday's Week 3 win over the Colts. He added one reception on two targets for 10 yards and a touchdown.

McNichols remained in his typical role as he was on the field for only 18 offensive snaps. However, he did find the end zone early in the fourth quarter to put the Titans up by nine points. McNichols will continue to serve as the complementary back to Derrick Henry, though it is worth noting that Henry has seen at least three targets in each game so far this season, which will make it difficult for McNichols to earn consistent volume.

  • DeeJay Dallas RB | JAC

Seahawks' DeeJay Dallas: Stays out of offensive game plan

Dallas didn't record an offensive snap in Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Vikings, but he did return one kick for 21 yards.

Dallas isn't handling any offensive work even though Rashaad Penny (calf) is out of the lineup. Penny could return in Week 4 against the 49ers, so Dallas can be safely left off fantasy rosters.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Minimal production in Week 3 loss

Jones rushed five times for 11 yards and did not draw a target in the Buccaneers' 34-24 loss to the Rams on Sunday.

The lack of production wasn't a byproduct of Leonard Fournette significantly outpacing the fourth-year back in actual touches. Instead, game script forced the Buccaneers to turn toward the pass relatively early in the second half, and Jones actually drew one more carry than his teammate. However, Fournette saw three targets to Jones' none, and he also logged 26 snaps compared to Jones' 12. Fournette's role in the passing game has a lot to do with the ongoing disparity between the backs, but a Week 4 battle against the Patriots should at least provide more balance in the offense.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Seahawks' Travis Homer: Snares three passes

Homer caught all three targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Vikings.

Homer logged 16 offensive snaps, finishing second behind Chris Carson (23) and barely ahead of Alex Collins (14). His increased usage was a direct result of the game script, as Homer is the team's best pass-blocking running back, and he's elusive after the catch. Thus, Homer's role should stay consistent even when Rashaad Penny (calf) returns to the lineup. However, Homer shouldn't be viewed as the primary backup to Carson, as Penny and Carson have frames that are better suited for workhorse roles.

  • Browns' Demetric Felton: Shows off return skills

Felton caught two of three targets for 13 yards and returned seven punts for 103 yards in Sunday's 26-6 win over the Bears.

Felton got an expected bump in playing time on offense with Jarvis Landry (knee) on the injured list -- 11 snaps, an increase of eight plays from Week 2 -- but the rookie had a bigger impact in the return game. Two of his seven returns had Cleveland starting around midfield and led to scores. Landry is out for at least two more weeks, so there will be chances for more offensive output for Felton, who scored a touchdown in Week 2, but his main value is in the return game. He leads the NFL with 129 punt-return yards, and his 11.7 yards per return ranks third among players with at least three returns.
