  • Trey Sermon RB | PIT

Eagles' Trey Sermon: Two carries in season debut

Sermon rushed for 19 yards on two carries in his Eagles debut Sunday against the Jaguars.

Sermon was inactive in each of the first three games of the season, but he got the chance to suit up Week 4 when Boston Scott's rib injury opened up the third running back spot. Sermon wasn't asked to play a significant role, seeing the field for just five offensive snaps. It likely will take at least one more injury ahead of him on the depth chart to have much fantasy relevance.

  • Eagles' Kenneth Gainwell: Scores in small role

Gainwell carried the ball five times for 19 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's win over the Jaguars, adding one catch on two targets for a loss of two yards.

Gainwell put the Eagles in front late in the first half with a 10-yard touchdown run, his second of the year. While he's now on pace for a respectable 8.5 touchdowns this season, he still isn't playing a major role in the Eagles offense. Even with Boston Scott out with a rib injury, Gainwell played 22 offensive snaps and received just six touches.

  • Darrynton Evans: Back to practice squad

Evans reverted to the Bears' practice squad Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Evans got the bump up to the active roster with David Montgomery (ankle) sidelined Sunday against the Giants. Operating as the team's No. 3 running back, Evans never saw the field on offense, but he did log 10 snaps on special teams. If Montgomery is unable to go in Week 5 against the Vikings, Evans may get another opportunity on the active roster.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Non-participant on estimated report

Taylor (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report.

Taylor injured his right ankle in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Titans, but Stephen Holder of ESPN.com suggests that the star running back has a chance to play Thursday against the Broncos after tests on his ankle came up negative and cleared him of a major injury. If, however, Taylor ends up out or limited Week 5, Nyheim Hines would be in line for added touches, with Deon Jackson in reserve and Phillip Lindsay representing a possible practice squad elevation who could factor into the backfield mix.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Limited on practice estimate

Gordon (neck) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate.

Gordon managed a neck issue ahead of Sunday's 32-23 loss to the Raiders, but he approached the contest minus an injury designation before suiting up and logging three carries for eight yards and a fumble. At this stage, there's nothing to suggest that Gordon's availability for Thursday night's game against the Colts is in any danger, and assuming he's active, added snaps and carries will be available to Gordon and Mike Boone after fellow running back Javonte Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury.

  • Jerrion Ealy WR | KC

    Jerrion Ealy: Handed six-game suspension

Ealy will be suspended for six games due to a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Ealy will not be eligible for any gameday activations while on the Chiefs' practice squad until Week 12. The undrafted rookie has yet to make his NFL debut after being waived by the Chiefs in early August.

  • Jaguars' JaMycal Hasty: Catches two passes

Hasty caught both his targets for 22 yards during Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Eagles.

Hasty played only three offensive snaps Sunday but was targeted on two of those plays, and he delivered gains of 15 and seven yards. The receptions marked the 26-year-old's first two touches of the season, though he also garnered a target Week 3. Hasty remains a distant third on the depth chart behind James Robinson and Travis Etienne.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Could return to practice soon

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Edwards (knee) could return to practice ahead of Week 5, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Edwards started the campaign on the resere/PUP list and was forced to miss the first four games of the season. However, he appears to have made good progress with his rehab and could return to practice as soon as Wednesday. J.K. Dobbins has played in both of the past two games, but he continues to be brought along slowly following his devastating lower-body injury. Justice Hill (hamstring) and Mike Davis have operated behind Dobbins, but Hill is expected to miss some time after suffering an injury Week 4, so Edwards' potential return would be perfect timing and could help fortify Baltimore's running back depth.

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Avoids long-term injury

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Hill (hamstring) didn't suffer a long-term injury, but the running back still will miss some time, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Hill rushed eight times for 45 yards before exiting Sunday's loss to the Bills. While the backup running back doesn't have a return timetable yet, Harbaugh said the team feels like it "dodged a bullet." In Hill's absence, Mike Davis is expected to garner an increased role behind J.K. Dobbins, who continues to work his way back to a full workload following a devastating lower-body injury. Per Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun, the Ravens may get Gus Edwards (knee), who's eligible to be activated off the reserve/PUP list ahead of Week 5, back soon, so he potentially could help fill the hole left by Hill's absence.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: TD catch in London

Mattison had three carries for three yards and one reception for a 15-yard touchdown on his lone target in Sunday's win over New Orleans in London.

With Dalvin Cook able to play despite a shoulder injury, Mattison returned to his reserve role and played about the usual number of snaps. Cook's chronic dislocated shoulder issue didn't appear to have any setback, so Mattison again should have a reserve role Week 5 against the Bears.
