  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Role slips in victory

Edwards-Helaire rushed the ball nine times for 15 yards in Monday's 30-29 win over the Raiders. He added three receptions on four targets for 20 yards.

Edwards-Helaire narrowly out-carried Jerick McKinnon 9-8, but he failed to get anything going on the ground. As has been the case throughout the season, Edwards-Helaire was more impressive as a receiver, and he managed multiple receptions for the fourth time in five games. He appeared to have a seven-yard touchdown reception midway through the second quarter but was ruled down at the one-yard line upon further review, and he got knocked out of bounds at the one on a four-yard catch in the fourth quarter. While getting across the goal line either time would have improved his stat line, Edwards-Helaire's usage as a bell cow in Week 4 appears to have been an outlier, as he now has fewer than 10 carries in all but one game on the campaign.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Posts another career best

Jacobs rushed the ball 21 times for 154 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 30-29 loss to the Chiefs. He also recorded five receptions on five targets for 39 yards.

Jacobs posted a career high in rushing yards for the second consecutive week, highlighted by lengthy gains of 37 and 21 yards. He also found the end zone for the third time this season, all of which have come in his last two games. While that production was encouraging enough, Jacobs tallied five receptions for the third consecutive matchup to showcase his ability as both a pass catcher and rusher. He's the clear workhorse back in Las Vegas and is showing the ability to deliver high-end production with his opportunity.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Panthers' D'Onta Foreman: Gets two carries

Foreman rushed twice for two yards in Sunday's 37-15 loss to the 49ers.

Foreman played just three offensive snaps behind star Christian McCaffrey. Although it's encouraging that Foreman at least got the ball while teammate Chuba Hubbard didn't on any of his 11 offensive plays, both running backs possess minimal value as long as McCaffrey is available.

  • Eagles' Kenneth Gainwell: Still not getting opportunities

Gainwell carried the ball three times for 20 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.

The Eagles continue to have a very clear hierarchy at the running back position and don't appear to be interested in anything close to a committee. Even with Boston Scott out with a rib injury and replacement third-string option Trey Sermon claiming just three snaps, Gainwell was out-snapped by Miles Sanders by a 54-16 margin. The Eagles' rushing attack is potent enough that Gainwell instantly would become quite an interesting option should Sanders get hurt, but there's little reason to look towards a player averaging 23.3 total yards on 4.4 touches per game until that happens.

  • Commanders' Jonathan Williams: Still dealing with injury

Williams (knee) was a DNP on the team's estimated practice report Monday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Williams suffered the injury during Sunday's game with the Titans, and he was unable to return. His inability to participate, even if just on an estimated practice report, does not bode well for his status for Thursday's game with the Bears.

  • James Cook RB | BUF

Bills' James Cook: Scores first NFL touchdown

Cool rushed four times for 31 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Steelers. He was not targeted in the passing game.

Cook saw extra time with the game being a laugher, as all four of the Bills' top rushers averaged at least seven yards per carry. And that's outside of Josh Allen's 424 passing yards. Both Cook and Zack Moss are well behind Devin Singletary in the pecking order, though Cook -- a second-round rookie -- showed some real burst on his TD run Sunday, so it'll be interesting to see how the carries shake out in the coming weeks when Singletary needs a breather.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Chiefs' Ronald Jones: Healthy scratch again

Jones (coach's decision) was ruled inactive ahead of Monday's game against the Raiders.

Jones will be a healthy scratch for the second game in a row after recovering from an illness ahead of last week's win over Tampa Bay. As a result, 25-year-old will have to wait until at least Week 6 to make his 2022 debut.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Seahawks' Travis Homer: Should return quickly from IR

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said that Homer (ribs) should return quickly after he becomes eligible to return from IR following Week 7, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Homer was placed on IR following Week 3, so his earliest chance to return will come during the lead-up to Seattle's game against the Giants on Oct. 30. The 24-year-old rushed four times for 18 yards and caught four passes for 33 yards while playing 40 offensive snaps over the first three games of the season. Homer could stand to see increased playing time once he returns, however, as running back Rashaad Penny will miss the rest of the season with a broken left fibula.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Nine carries in win

Mattison had nine carries for 19 yards and three receptions for 21 yards on four targets in Sunday's win over Chicago.

Mattison played on a season-high 46 percent of the offensive snaps (34 of 79) and got a decent workload even with Dalvin Cook having a strong game (18 carries for 94 yards and two touchdowns). However, it's hard to count on a workload even this large for Mattison unless Cook gets hurt.

  • Tony Jones RB | ARI

Seahawks' Tony Jones: Finds new home

Jones was claimed off waivers from the Saints on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Jones hit the waiver wire Saturday, and with Rashaad Penny suffering a season-ending ankle injury against the Saints in Week 5, the former will now provide depth at running back for the Seahawks. Jones appeared in two games for the Saints this season, recording two carries for eight yards, while also hauling in each of his two targets for 12 yards.
