Myles Gaskin RB | SEA
Myles Gaskin: Expected to return to Vikings
Though the Vikings released Gaskin on Friday, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com indicates that the transaction was a procedural move, and the running back is expected to return to the team.
Per Seifert, Gaskin is expected to resurface on Minnesota's practice squad and then subsequently is in line to be elevated to the team's active roster. For now, Alexander Mattison and Ty Chandler are the only running backs on the Vikings' 53-man roster, though DeWayne McBride currently is on the practice squad.

Myles Gaskin RB | SEA
Myles Gaskin: Cut loose by Minnesota
The Vikings released Gaskin on Friday.
Gaskin lasted only 9-10 days with the Vikings after the Dolphins cut him at the end of the preseason. Minnesota is left with Alexander Mattison and Ty Chandler as the only RBs on the 53-man roster, making rookie DeWayne McBride a strong candidate to come up from the practice squad early in the season, if not for Week 1 against Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, Gaskin could get a shot elsewhere this fall if a team is looking for a veteran back with plenty of experience handling passing downs.

Dare Ogunbowale RB | HOU
Texans' Dare Ogunbowale: Questionable for Sunday opener
Ogunbowale (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
After being limited at practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Ogunbowale will officially enter Houston's game in Week 1 with a questionable designation. Devin Singletary and Mike Boone will be the Texans' only depth at running back behind Dameon Pierce if Ogunbowale is forced to miss time.

Zach Charbonnet RB | SEA
Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Backup duties on tap
Charbonnet is listed as the No. 3 running back on the depth chart behind Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas heading into Sunday's matchup versus the Rams.
It's a little surprising that Charbonnet is listed behind Dallas, but we aren't reading into that too much. Dallas hasn't recorded more than 55 touches in a season through three years in the league, and he's mostly a passing-down back anyway. The Seahawks will make sure Charbonnet -- their second-round pick -- sees his share sooner than later. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if Dallas began the year ahead of Charbonnet in passing situations. However, Charbonnet may eventually take over that role while also challenging Walker for a chunk of the early down work.

Rhamondre Stevenson RB | NE
Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Listed as questionable for opener
Stevenson is listed as questionable for Sunday's season opener against the Eagles after missing Friday's practice due to an illness, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
While Stevenson heads into the weekend officially listed as questionable, Lazar relays that the running back is expected to play after Friday's rest day. In any case, Stevenson's Week 1 status will be confirmed once the Patriots' inactives are posted ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming Stevenson is available versus Philadelphia, he'll be in line to lead a backfield that also includes newcomer Ezekiel Elliott.

Kenny McIntosh RB | SEA
Seahawks' Kenny McIntosh: Will wait to make debut
McIntosh (knee) is listed as out for Sunday's game versus the Rams, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
After sustaining a sprained knee back in early August, McIntosh will now be sidelined for Seattle's matchup in Week 1. Even when healthy, it's hard to imagine him getting any volume of touches as long as Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet are active.

Josh Jacobs RB | GB
Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Aiming for full Week 1 workload
Jacobs believes he's ready to take on a full workload Week 1 against the Broncos on Sunday but acknowledged that whether he gets the chance to do so will be up to the coaching staff, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Jacobs held out for most of the offseason in hopes of a long-term deal before ultimately rejoining the Raiders in late August on a one-year pact. The NFL's 2022 rushing leader believes missing training camp and preseason has left him fresh to hit the ground running, but the Raiders may not think he's fully up to speed yet and thus could give Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah or Brandon Bolden more opportunities at Jacobs' expense in the season opener. Jacobs added that a personal goal for him in 2023 is to score a receiving touchdown, as none of his 160 career catches up to this point have wound up in the end zone.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Jets' Dalvin Cook: Part of crowded backfield
Cook is expected to split snaps with Breece Hall (knee), as well as Michael Carter and Israel Abanikanda in Monday's season opener against the Bills, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports.
Cook isn't on the injury report, but he has been fully practicing for less than two weeks coming off shoulder rehab, while Hall has been practicing in a limited capacity as the Jets ease him in after last season's torn ACL. Both should contribute against Buffalo, but New York doesn't want to overexert either of its top two running backs early, especially because the coaching staff also likes the shifty Carter and the speedy rookie Abanikanda. A running back rotation could allow Cook to perform better on a per-touch basis while staying fresh, but his workload is unlikely to rival the volume he saw as the bell cow in Minnesota.

Kenneth Walker III RB | KC
Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Cleared for Week 1 takeoff
Walker (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Rams, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
There was some concern Thursday after the Seahawks added him to the injury report as a limited participant with a groin injury. Walker missed part of training camp with a groin issue, but that was in late July and early August before he came back in mid-August with no reports of a setback or incident. He's expected to lead the Seattle rushing attack again, though he'll have to look over his shoulder after the team used a second-round pick on a running back for the second straight offseason, bringing in Zach Charbonnet to join Walker in the backfield.

Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Another limited practice
Hall (knee) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Hall's limited participation was expected, as the Jets continue to ease him into practice ahead of his second NFL season. His impressive rookie campaign was cut short by a torn ACL, but Hall has been practicing at full speed since mid-August. While Hall's expected to suit up Week 1 against the Bills on Monday, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports that Hall's likely to be on a snap count, with the Jets using Dalvin Cook, Michael Carter and Israel Abanikanda in the backfield as well.
