  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Titans' Marcus Mariota: Rusty in regular-season dress rehearsal

Mariota completed five of eight passes for 43 yards and one interception during Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers. He also rushed once for one yard.

Mariota rattled off three straight completions to start the game but ultimately missed a wide open Corey Davis on third-and-long to end what started off as a promising drive. The quarterback then struggled to get anything going during the rest of his action before being pulled in the second quarter without having led his team on a single scoring drive. It hasn't been a very promising preseason for the fourth-year signal caller, who's coming off a 2017 season in which he threw more picks than touchdowns, but Mariota could very well still be in the process of mastering new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur's system, leaving plenty of optimism for the Oregon product to improve as the year unfolds.

  • Browns' Baker Mayfield: Will play Thursday

Coach Hue Jackson said Mayfield will play in Thursday's preseason finale in Detroit, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The Browns are dealing with a number of injuries at the skill positions -- Tyrod Taylor (hand), Josh Gordon (hamstring) and Antonio Callaway (groin) -- and Mayfield didn't go without an injury scare Thursday against the Eagles. In the fourth quarter, Mayfield hit his head on the backside of a teammate as he was going to the ground. He was promptly evaluated for a concussion but passed the necessary tests to avoid entering the protocol. Meanwhile, Taylor is tending to a sore wrist and dislocated pinky finger to his left hand, but he was able to practice Saturday. Mayfield seems poised to begin his rookie campaign on the sideline behind a healthy Taylor.

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Impresses in extended run

Mahomes completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 196 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears. He also added 11 yards on a pair of carries.

Mahomes spread the ball around to seven different receivers as he completed 75 percent of his attempts. He got his team on the board with a 19-yard touchdown connection to Kareem Hunt out of the backfield. Mahomes also led the team in rushing during his time on the field, though that has more to do with the ineffectiveness of the runners on the day against an underrated Bears front. The organization has to be thrilled about what it has seen out of its first-round draft pick from a year ago, as he's connected on 26 of 36 total passes for 334 yards, two touchdowns and one interception over the last two weeks. He's unlikely to play at all in the final exhibition contest, but looks ready for his first taste of life as a full-time starter in the regular season.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Rams' Jared Goff: Sitting out Saturday

Goff will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site reports.

It appeared Goff was set to play early in the week, but head coach Sean McVay later changed his mind and eventually decided to rest nearly all of the offensive starters Saturday. Goff may have played his last down of the preseason already, but he'll retake the reins under center when the Rams open the regular season with a Week 1 Monday night game against the Raiders.

  • Tyrod Taylor QB | GB

Browns' Tyrod Taylor: Takes part in practice

Taylor practiced Saturday with his left hand wrapped, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

In the aftermath of Thursday's preseason win against the Eagles, Taylor was diagnosed with a sore wrist and dislocated pinky finger in his left hand, the result of an awkward fall. He was steadfast in his belief that he wouldn't miss practice, which came to pass Saturday. Due to the state of the hand, Taylor will almost certainly have limitations on his workload but doesn't appear as if he'll miss any regular-season games.

  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

Vikings' Trevor Siemian: Struggles in third preseason game

Siemian was just 4-of-8 for three yards passing in Friday's preseason win over Seattle.

Siemian has had an up-and-down preseason, but he's locked in as Kirk Cousins' backup.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Jets' Sam Darnold: Another step forward in loss

Darnold completed eight of 16 passes for 86 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Jets' 22-16 preseason loss to the Giants on Friday. He also rushed twice for 13 yards.

The rookie played the entire first half, leading the offense to touchdowns on a pair of drives. Darnold capped off a five-play, 47-yard march in the second quarter with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Terrelle Pryor, which served as the highlight of his night. Although the offense finished the first half on an extremely sluggish note (seven plays, minus-two yards and a fumble over last four possessions), Darnold still likely made enough of an impression with his work earlier in the contest to stay firmly under consideration for the Week 1 starting gig. Teddy Bridgewater turned in a solid second half in his own right, so the battle between the two quarterbacks will apparently come down to next Thursday's preseason finale against the Eagles. Meanwhile, veteran Josh McCown, who hasn't seen action since the preseason opener, could also still factor into the equation.

  • Jets' Teddy Bridgewater: Sharp again in loss

Bridgewater completed 11 of 15 passes for 104 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Jets' 22-16 preseason loss to the Giants on Friday.

Josh McCown took a seat Friday for the second straight preseason game, as coach Todd Bowles allowed Bridgewater and rookie first-round pick Sam Darnold a half each to make their case for a potential starting job to open the season. For the second straight week, the battle was more or less a draw, although unlike Darnold, Bridgewater was unable to get the offense into the end zone. He did lead an impressive 13-play, 78-yard march over a 6:24 stretch of the fourth quarter, moving the ball all the way down to the Giants two-yard line before throwing incomplete to Thomas Rawls on third down. Heading into next Thursday's preseason finale against the Eagles, the Jets' starting quarterback job appears to still be firmly up for grabs, making it likely both Bridgewater and Darnold see plenty of snaps in that contest.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Throws for 118 yards against Vikings

Wilson completed 11 of 21 passes for 118 yards during Friday's preseason game against the Vikings. He also rushed once for five yards.

On a night without receivers Doug Baldwin or Tyler Lockett, Wilson was lacking reliable weapons downfield, and it showed in his final stat line. However, this isn't what should be expected in the regular season when both of his top targets are expected to be available. In fact, Wilson is being widely discussed as one of the favorites to win the MVP award this season coming off a 2017 campaign in which he led the league with 34 passing touchdowns.

  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Raiders' Derek Carr: Leads FG drive

Carr completed two of three passes for 68 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Packers.

Carr hooked up with Amari Cooper for a 49-yard gain on the first snap of the game, setting up a field goal on the only drive for the first-team offense. Assuming he's held out of the preseason finale next week, Carr will finish the preseason with just seven pass attempts. Coach Jay Gruden believes practice reps will be sufficient to prepare the 27-year-old quarterback for Week 1 against the Rams.
