Bears' Tyson Bagent: Chicago's backup for Week 6
With Caleb Williams (hamstring) active, Tyson Tyson Bagent will serve as the Chicago Bears' backup quarterback against the Falcons on Sunday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.Williams missed Chicago's last three games due to a torn right hamstring, but the third-year pro has been cleared to return for Sunday's road game. As such, Bagent will revert to backup duties while Case Keenum (coach's decision, inactive) serves as the emergency third quarterback.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Could be QB2 against Atlanta
Whether Tyson Bagent starts or serves in a backup role against the Falcons on Sunday depends largely on whether Caleb William (hamstring) is cleared to return from a three-game absence, Larry Mayer of the Chicago Bears' official site reports.Williams strung together a trio of full practices during Week 6 prep, but he's not quite out of the woods yet as the team manages the third-year pro's hamstring injury. If Williams is not cleared to return, then it's not entirely clear whether Bagent or Keenum would get the starting nod, with head coach Ben Johnson being mum on those two options following Friday's practice. Bagent led the Bears to a Week 4 win against the Jets but was benched in the third quarter of Chicago's Week 5 loss to Green Bay after throwing a second interception.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Role uncertain for Week 3
Head coach Ben Johnson said Monday that a decision hasn't been made regarding whether Tyson Bagent, Case Keenum or Caleb Williams (hamstring) will take reps with the first-team offense during the Chicago Bears' first Week 6 practice Wednesday, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.Williams will take back the starting job once fully healthy, but after missing the Bears' last three games due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, it's not yet clear if he'll be ready to direct the offense Week 6 in Atlanta. Bagent has started the last two games, but after managing the Bears to a 23-12 win over the Jets in Week 4, he regressed badly in a 31-7 loss to the Packers in Week 5. The 26-year-old completed just 12 of 21 passes for 87 yards and two interceptions before being benched in favor of Case Keenum in the fourth quarter. As a result of the poor outing, Bagent could be at risk of dropping all the way to third on the depth chart this week if Williams is cleared to play.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Takes step back in loss
Tyson Bagent completed 12 of 21 passes for 87 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions while adding three rushes for 17 yards in the Chicago Bears' 31-7 loss to the Packers on Sunday.Bagent was ultimately benched in favor of Case Keenum after his second interception of the day with under a minute remaining in the third quarter. Prior to that, he wasn't able to keep the Bears competitive on a day when Chicago's defense was consistently victimized by Jordan Love and his top two receivers, Christian Watson and Matthew Golden. Bagent had put together a diametrically opposite performance in his Week 4 start against the Jets, and it appears unlikely he'll have a chance to atone for Sunday's struggles anytime soon since Caleb Williams appears to have a good chance of returning from his hamstring injury in next Sunday night's Week 6 road matchup against the Falcons.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Remaining starter for Week 5
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that Tyson Bagent will start Sunday's game against the Packers in Green Bay, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.Bagent will direct the Chicago offense for a second straight week after he guided the Bears to a comfortable 23-12 win over the Jets on Sunday. The Bears dominated time of possession (42:45 to 17:15) in the victory, with Bagent completing 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards and an interception while leaning heavily on the ground attack to churn out a franchise-record 34 first downs. Bagent's upcoming start against the Packers could be his last before shifting to a backup role, as Caleb Williams may be ready to return from his Grade 2 hamstring strain for the Bears' Week 6 matchup with the Falcons.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: No TDs in Week 4 win
Tyson Bagent completed 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 23-12 win over the Jets. He also rushed four times for one yard. After watching Case Keenum beat the Eagles in Week 3 following Caleb Williams' Week 2 hamstring injury, Bagent made his first start since his rookie campaign in 2023. Bagent had three would-be interceptions erased by penalties but threw one that counted in the second quarter, marking the first regular-season interception for the Jets defense since Week 18 of the 2024 season. The Chicago Bears rode their running game and defense to a second consecutive win in Williams' absence while Bagent managed to keep the offense on schedule. If Williams isn't ready to return in Week 5, Bagent would presumably get the starting nod against the NFC North rival Packers at Lambeau Field.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Expected to start Sunday
Tyson Bagent is expected to start Sunday versus the Jets after getting first-team reps in practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. However, coach Ben Johnson has not yet confirmed the plan.Bagent was the backup to Case Keenum in Week 3 against Philadelphia with Caleb Williams (hamstring) sidelined due to a hamstring injury. That arrangement likely had something to do with Bagent coming off a concussion, which resulted in Keenum handling much of the first-team reps in practice during the week. It appeared Keenum may have seized the starting job for Week 4 (with Williams still out of action) after leading Chicago to a win against the Eagles while throwing for 247 yards and two touchdowns, but Bagent's work with the first team this week during practice suggests the script is flipping again. With that said, Johnson has refused so far to announce a Week 4 starter at QB, so it can't yet be said for certain what roles Keenum and Bagent will have this weekend.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Sticking in backup role for Week 3
Tyson Bagent (concussion) is expected to remain the Chicago Bears' backup quarterback for Monday's game against the Eagles, while Case Keenum starts in place of the injured Caleb Williams (hamstring), Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Bears' No. 2 quarterback for the first two games of the season, Bagent was initially lined up to start against the Eagles after Williams sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in the Week 2 loss to the Vikings. However, after emerging from the Vikings game with a concussion, Bagent missed the first two practices of Week 3, resulting in Keenum taking all the reps with the first-team offense. Bagent returned to practice Saturday as a limited participant and had his questionable designation removed Sunday upon clearing the five-step concussion protocol, but because of his lack of prep time this week, the Bears will keep him in the backup role. Keenum will thus pick up his first start since the 2023 season, but barring a strong performance against a stout Eagles defense, the Bears would likely go with Bagent as their starter Week 4 versus the Jets in the likely event that Williams remains out.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Clears protocol ahead of Week 3
Tyson Bagent (concussion) cleared the NFL's concussion protocol Sunday and doesn't have a designation for Monday's game against the Eagles. With Caleb Williams already ruled out for Week 3 due to a hamstring injury and facing a lengthier absence than that, Chicago now has a decision to make between Bagent and 38-year-old Case Keenum as to who will start Monday. Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports that the team has yet to make a call between the two, but Bagent's ability to clear the protocol for head injuries gives him a chance to be under center this week, even if Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported on "Fox NFL Sunday" that he will be the backup.

Bears' Tyson Bagent: Will serve in backup role Monday
Tyson Bagent, who is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Eagles, cleared concussion protocol Sunday and will serve as the Chicago Bears' No. 2 quarterback in Week 3, Jay Glazer reported on "Fox NFL Sunday."With Caleb Williams sitting out Monday due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain that's expected to keep him out for multiple weeks, Bagent had been the next man up to start at quarterback. However, after coming on in relief of the injured Williams in last Sunday's loss to the Vikings, Bagent entered concussion protocol following that game and was held out of the Bears' first two practices of Week 3. Bagent returned to the field Saturday as a limited participant before being cleared by an independent neurologist Sunday, but because he didn't have much involvement in the game plan this week, the Bears will turn to third-stringer Case Keenum to start Monday. Unless Keenum performs better than anticipated against a strong Eagles defense, Bagent will likely draw the start Week 4 versus the Jets.
