Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Logs 12 touches in potential swan song

Jonathan Taylor rushed eight times for 23 yards and brought in four of five targets for 24 yards in the Indianapolis Colts' 42-7 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.Taylor opened the game in his usual starting role with trade rumors swirling around him, and the star running back ultimately finished with a wholly unremarkable performance. Taylor ultimately ceded plenty of snaps to backfield mates Seth McGowan and DJ Giddens, the likeliest heir-apparent candidates if Taylor is indeed moved to another team in coming days. Taylor had exceeded 90 rushing yards in back-to-back games and on five occasions overall heading into Week 8, so even if his Colts tenure finishes with Sunday's whimper, he'll have plenty to offer in a new destination.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: May soon be on the move

The Indianapolis Colts are fielding trade offers for Jonathan Taylor, and while the asking price currently appears to be "too high," a deal seems likely to happen, per NFL reporter Jordan Schultz.Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday morning that the Colts are willing to trade Taylor, but Schultz's report includes a new wrinkle, namely that a trade is more likely than not to occur. The Vikings, Giants, Broncos, Bengals and Packers are among the teams mentioned by Schultz that have checked in with Indianapolis regarding the seventh-year pro, who has looked like his usual dynamic self this season with 765 yards from scrimmage and eight rushing TDs on 157 touches in seven contests.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Trade talks heating up

Jonathan Taylor is being made available via trade by the Indianapolis Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Taylor himself was not requesting a trade earlier in the week, but Indianapolis' recent flurry of moves opened the possibility that the star running back would also be moved in the team's teardown before a rebuild. The Colts moved on from Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner and got significant draft capital from the Seahawks and 49ers in return. Now a market is forming for Taylor, 27, who could help put a contender over the top. Per Schefter, the Colts are seeking a deal similar to what the Panthers got in 2022 when they traded Christian McCaffrey.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Hasn't requested trade

Jonathan Taylor told reporters Thursday that he hasn't requested a trade out of Indianapolis, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports. "I haven't heard anything, and I can't control that," Taylor said regarding the possibility of being traded. "Obviously, you guys know that I'm always proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here."The 2-5 Indianapolis Colts have gone into sell mode after firing GM Chris Ballard. Indianapolis traded away guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to Seattle and San Francisco, respectively, but both of those players are on expiring contracts. Taylor signed a two-year, $44 million extension with the Colts in August, so the team may not feel as much urgency to trade him, and the star running back confirmed he hasn't requested a trade. Several teams have reportedly inquired about Taylor's availability.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Carries offense in Week 7 loss

Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 18 times for 95 yards and a touchdown and caught two of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Vikings. The Indianapolis Colts managed only 218 yards of offense in total, and Taylor had nearly as many rushing yards as Daniel Jones had passing yards. Taylor also scored his team's only TD on a 38-year-old dash in the first quarter. The star RB is still looking for his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season, but he's topped 90 yards in five of seven games and has produced 100-plus scrimmage yards four times while racking up eight scores on the ground. Taylor will face another tough run defense in Week 8 versus the Jaguars.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Strong showing in Week 6 loss

Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 21 times for 94 yards and a touchdown and caught two of four targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Titans. He also lost a fumble. For the fourth time in six games, Taylor came up just short of 100 rushing yards, but his 151 scrimmage yards were a season high and he got into the end zone for the seventh time in 2026 on a four-yard run in the fourth quarter. His fumble was one of three Indy turnovers on the day, however, and it was Taylor's second lost fumble of the year. While he's on pace for double-digit TDs once again, Taylor's 4.0 YPC would be the worst mark of his career. He'll try to find another gear in Week 7 against the Vikings.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Stifled by Steelers in Week 5 loss

Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 15 times for 45 yards and caught three of four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 34-22 loss to Pittsburgh. The Steelers were able to keep Taylor from hurting them, and most of the star RB's yardage came on a 24-yard pass from Daniel Jones in the second quarter and a 20-yard run in the fourth, the latter of which helped set up the fifth of Spencer Shrader's five field goals on the afternoon. It's the second time in the last three games that Taylor has fallen short of 90 scrimmage yards, as defenses crowd the box and focus on stopping him while daring the Indianapolis Colts' depleted WR room to beat them over the top. Taylor should be able to find a little more success in Week 6 against the winless Titans.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Finds end zone twice in London

Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 20 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Commanders. He also caught one of four targets for two yards. Both scores came from five yards out in the second and third quarters, as the Indianapolis Colts went with a ground-heavy offense once Marcus Mariota (knee) was knocked out of the game in London, forcing the Commanders to turn to third-string QB Athan Kaliakmanis, a seventh-round rookie. Taylor has six rushing TDs through four games along with 422 scrimmage yards, and he figures to see a hefty workload again on the road in Week 5 against the Steelers.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Turns 25 touches into 72 yards

Jonathan Taylor rushed 23 times for 68 yards while catching two of three targets for four yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Texans.Taylor racked up 25 touches as the Indianapolis Colts notched their first win of the season, but he failed to find much running room against Houston's stout front. He finished with a season-low 72 scrimmage yards and failed to score after opening the season with a pair of two-touchdown performances. The workhorse running back is averaging 25 touches per game heading into the Colts' Week 4 trip to London to take on the Commanders at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Taylor's poised for another busy outing in the overseas clash between 1-2 teams.

Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Another multi-TD outing in Week 2

Jonathan Taylor rushed 24 times for 92 yards and two touchdowns while catching all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 33-30 overtime loss to the Chiefs.Taylor has started the season with a pair of two-touchdown performances on the ground after leading the league with 18 rushing touchdowns in the 2025 regular season. The star running back broke free for a 24-yard rushing touchdown with 59 seconds left in the first half before adding a five-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 27-27. Taylor is the focal point of Indianapolis' offense, and that's unlikely to change in Week 3, even with Houston's stout front seven coming to town.
