Dolphins' Malik Willis: Three total TDs in Week 7 win

Malik Willis completed 14 of 21 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns while rushing six times for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Jets.Willis gave the Miami Dolphins their first lead of the season with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Douglas on the opening drive. After the Jets tied the game on the ensuing possession, Miami reclaimed the lead with a one-yard Ollie Gordon touchdown run, and Willis extended the advantage to 14 points with a two-yard touchdown run in the waning seconds of the first half. Miami's offense stalled for most of the second half until Willis found Douglas for a 63-yard catch and run to take a 28-17 lead with 4:44 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Jets scored on their next drive, but Willis sealed his first win as Miami's QB with a successful fourth-down QB sneak to pick up a first down and set up victory formation. Up next for Willis and the 1-5 Dolphins is a Week 8 home game against the Patriots.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Opens week with full practice

Malik Willis was a full participant in Wednesday's practice after being listed on the Miami Dolphins' injury report with a right thumb issue, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Willis wasn't spotted throwing in an informal practice during the Dolphins' Week 6 bye due to an unspecified reason, but the thumb issue provides an explanation. After a week off to rest and recover, Willis kicked off Week 7 prep with no limitations and will be ready to start in Sunday's game against the Jets.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Ready to go after minor injury

Head coach Jeff Hafley said that Malik Willis should be ready to play Sunday against the Jets after tending to a minor undisclosed injury coming out of the Miami Dolphins' Week 5 loss to the Bengals, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. "I foresee him being good to go," Hafley said.In the 31-24 loss to Cincinnati, Willis played every snap and completed 15 of 27 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown to go with 74 yards on eight carries, but he committed three turnovers (two interceptions, one lost fumble). Though he didn't appear to be bothered by an injury during the game, Willis wasn't spotted throwing during the Dolphins' lone unofficial practice during their Week 6 bye, which raised questions about his health. With the extra time to recuperate, Willis seems to have bounced back fine from whatever physical concern he was dealing with, and the expectation is that he'll face no limitations in practice this week as the Dolphins prepare for a road matchup with the 2-4 Jets.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: More effective as runner in loss

Malik Willis completed 15 of 27 passes for 137 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and added eight carries for 74 yards and another score in the Miami Dolphins' 31-24 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. He also committed two fumbles, losing one and recovering the other.Willis had a particularly difficult first half through the air, and although he was able to bring up his numbers somewhat in the second half, he still finished with his second-fewest passing yards of the season. Willis connected with Kevin Coleman for a three-yard touchdown just past the midway point of the fourth quarter, but the veteran signal-caller made more of an impact on the ground with a season-high rushing yardage total and his second touchdown of the campaign on the ground. Willis is helping keep the Dolphins competitive on most weeks, so he figures to remain under center for a Week 7 divisional road matchup against the Jets on Sunday, Oct. 25 following a Week 6 bye.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Stifled by Vikes in Week 4 loss

Malik Willis completed nine of 17 passes for 85 yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Vikings. He added 11 yards on two carries and lost a fumble. It was a miserable day for the Miami passing game against Brian Flores' defense, as Willis wasn't able to find receivers downfield -- his longest completion went for just 17 yards to Malik Washington -- or escape the pocket to do damage with his legs. Willis has produced just two TDs (one through the air, one on the ground) through four starts against four turnovers (two INTs and two lost fumbles) while completing just 56.3 percent of his passes, but there's been no suggestion the 0-4 Miami Dolphins will make a switch at QB ahead of a Week 5 home tilt against the Bengals.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Struggles again as team drops to 0-3

Malik Willis completed 20 of 36 passes for 210 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Chiefs. He also rushed nine times for 56 yards and lost a fumble.Willis led the team in rushing yards in a game starting running back De'Von Achane (knee) left in the first quarter. Achane could be facing a lengthy absence, which would further deplete a Miami Dolphins offense that already lacks playmakers and entered Sunday's loss without wide receiver Caleb Douglas (ankle) and backup running back Jaylen Wright (foot). Willis has yet to exceed 220 passing yards or produce a multi-touchdown performance for the Dolphins, though he has rushed for at least 39 yards twice in three games ahead of a Week 4 road game at Minnesota.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Modest numbers even with 77-yard TD

Malik Willis completed 14 of 23 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 35-13 loss to the 49ers. He also rushed twice for six yards.Willis unsurprisingly posted another modest passing total after throwing for 220 yards in his Miami Dolphins debut against the Raiders, but he also failed to get anything going with his legs in Week 2 after rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 loss. A substantial chunk of Willis' production came on a 77-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Miller with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter. Miami doesn't have much experience in its wide receiver room, which got even thinner during Sunday's loss due to the second-half exit of rookie third-round pick Caleb Douglas (ankle). Willis and the Dolphins have been outscored 62-26 heading into a Week 3 home game against the Chiefs.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Uneven performance in team debut

Malik Willis completed 15 of 27 passes for 200 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while adding six carries for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Miami Dolphins' 27-13 loss to the Raiders on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by Miami.Willis' regular-season Dolphins debut did have its share of positives, including a pair of 30-yard completions to his top two receivers Caleb Douglas and Malik Washington, as well as a 25-yard strike to Chris Bell. However, Willis' third-quarter interception on a deep pass intended for Douglas led to a Raiders field goal, and with Miami down by 14 throughout the fourth quarter, the fifth-year signal-caller led the Dolphins to just 49 net yards over the final five drives. Willis seemingly faces a season-long uphill battle given his inexperienced pass-catching corps, but his mobility -- which enabled his 14-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter -- and arm strength will keep him in consideration as a deep-league option and occasional DFS dart throw. Willis and the Dolphins draw an unenviable Week 2 assignment, however, as they'll travel to San Francisco to face the 49ers next Sunday.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Logs one appearance in preseason

Malik Willis made just one appearance during the Miami Dolphins' three-game preseason slate.Willis started the team's exhibition opener at Washington on Aug. 14, leading a 14-play drive that culminated in a De'Von Achane one-yard TD run. During the possession, Willis was a crisp 4-for-5 passing for 43 yards and also had two carries for nine yards. He parlayed a successful two-year stint as Jordan Love's backup in Green Bay into a three-year, $67.5 million contract this offseason, and while Willis' brief game action last month was encouraging, outside of top RB Achane, Miami doesn't boast much in terms of skill-position talent, as Malik Washington will be the No. 1 WR to begin the 2026 season.

Dolphins' Malik Willis: Idle for Saturday's preseason game

Malik Willis is not in uniform for Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Willis played in the Miami Dolphins' preseason opener against the Commanders on Friday, Aug. 14, when he completed four of five passes for 43 yards while adding two carries for nine yards. He'll observe Saturday's exhibition contest in street clothes. If Quinn Ewers (groin) doesn't play, the Dolphins figure to roll with Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski at quarterback.
