Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Likely to miss rest of season

Jalen Hurts (calf) is expected to be held out of football activities for multiple months and miss the rest of the season after new imaging over the weekend revealed several blood clots in his lungs, Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports.Initially diagnosed with a superficial blood clot after being cleated in the left calf in an Oct. 4 loss to the Rams, Hurts had been cleared by doctors to play Week 5 in the Philadelphia Eagles' loss to the Jaguars before more recent testing last week showed that the blood clot had moved. According to a statement released Monday by his agent, Nicole Lynn, Hurts has now been diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis in the left calf, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli. Hurts has gone on blood thinners to treat the blood clots, and while his prognosis is good and he's not expected to face any long-term health effects, he won't be able to participate in football activities until he's off blood thinners. With that in mind, Hurts isn't expected to make a push for a late-season return from injured reserve and will instead turn his focus toward returning to full health in 2027. The Eagles will move forward with Tanner McKee, Cole Payton and Joe Milton as their options at quarterback.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Placed on IR, out indefinitely

The Philadelphia Eagles placed Jalen Hurts (calf) on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. After prior reports indicated that a stint on injured reserve wasn't necessary, Hurts will now go on IR after multiple consultations with doctors. He'll be required to miss at least four games, and while Week 11 against the Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 22 is the earliest he can return, Schefter notes that Hurts' move to IR has the veteran quarterback sidelined "indefinitely." Tanner McKee will be the Eagles' starting QB for as long as Hurts is out of action, and rookie fifth-rounder Cole Payton will step into the Eagles' backup role.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: IR stint not expected

Jalen Hurts remains sidelined indefinitely due to a superficial blood clot in his calf, but the Philadelphia Eagles are not planning to place the Philadelphia quarterback on injured reserve, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Hurts was initially diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg prior to the Eagles' Week 5 loss to the Jaguars in London, and a follow-up ultrasound during Week 6 prep showed movement of the blood clot. He's already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, and while there's no clear timeline for a return, it looks like an IR stint isn't in the cards for the seventh-year quarterback. Tanner McKee will start under center for Week 6 and for as long as Hurts is sidelined, while rookie fifth-rounder Cole Payton likely serves as the backup.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Out Week 6 due to blood clot on calf

The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled Jalen Hurts out for Sunday's game against the Panthers after a follow-up ultrasound performed on his calf Wednesday revealed movement in a small blood clot, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.According to a statement from the team, Hurts requested treatment for his calf last Thursday, a few days after he had been cleated in the leg during the team's Week 4 loss to the Rams. Hurts underwent an initial ultrasound Saturday following the Eagles' flight to London, with the imaging revealing the superficial blood clot. After the results of the ultrasound were reviewed, doctors determined that Hurts could safely play in the Eagles' eventual 19-17 loss to the Jaguars. However, after practicing fully Wednesday to kick off Week 6 prep, the quarterback had another follow-up ultrasound that showed movement in the blood clot. As a result, the Eagles have elected to hold Hurts out of action for at least one game, with backup Tanner McKee now primed to start against the Panthers. Since the Eagles are still in the process of determining the appropriate course of treatment for Hurts, his status beyond Week 6 is uncertain at the moment.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Struggles again in Week 5 loss

Jalen Hurts completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Jaguars. He added two rushing yards on two carries and lost one of two fumbles. It was another sluggish effort from the Philadelphia Eagles' offense, and the only play longer than 19 yards that they managed on the day was a 62-yard TD from Hurts to Darius Cooper in the second quarter. Even so, the QB appeared to engineer a game-winning field goal drive inside the final two minutes of the fourth quarter, only for Jake Elliott to give Ameer Abdullah a returnable kickoff with eight seconds left on the clock which he took back to the Philly 39-yard line -- setting the stage for a game-winning Cam Little field goal. Hurts will take an 8:3 TD:INT and rough 57.8 percent completion rate through five games into a Week 6 meeting with the Panthers.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Modest numbers without top targets

Jalen Hurts completed 12 of 27 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns while rushing five times for 18 yards in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Rams.Hurts threw second-quarter touchdowns of 18 and 10 yards to Darius Cooper in the second quarter, the first of which went off the hands of Rams defender Quentin Lake in the end zone. The Philadelphia Eagles started the game without DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dallas Goedert (knee), lost Saquon Barkley (hamstring) in the first quarter and went a franchise-worst 0-for-12 on third down, yet they were still in position to win with a 10-point lead and the ball inside the Rams' 10-yard line halfway through the fourth quarter. Hurts failed on attempts to score with his legs and then his arm as that drive ended in a turnover on downs, and the Rams stormed back with two touchdown drives while the Eagles failed to pick up a first down on their final two drives. Hurts could struggle to produce again in Week 5 against the Jaguars in London if the Eagles remain without some of their key skill players.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Forgettable night in loss

Jalen Hurts completed 16 of 25 passes for 153 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while rushing four times for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Philadelphia Eagles' 27-7 loss to the Bears on Monday night.Hurts scuffled through the air as much as his final suggests, averaging a modest 6.1 yards per attempt while taking a pair of sacks. The star signal-caller also absorbed a big hit on the sideline at the end of a two-yard scramble shortly before the midway point of the second quarter, and he missed four plays while undergoing a concussion check he subsequently passed. Hurts led the Eagles to their only points upon checking back in for the following possession, one he capped off with a one-yard touchdown run as time expired in the first half. That would prove to be the highlight of an otherwise forgettable night, and Hurts is averaging a modest 206.7 passing yards per game while carrying a 5:3 TD:INT into a Week 4 home showdown against the Rams on Sunday.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Evaluated for concussion, cleared to return

Jalen Hurts exited Monday's game versus Chicago to be evaluated for a concussion and has since been cleared to return.Hurts was pulled after taking a hard hit midway through the second quarter. He headed to the medical tent and was replaced at quarterback by Andy Dalton, who threw an interception in the end zone to end a potential Philadelphia Eagles scoring drive. Hurts is now slated to get back behind center for Philadelphia following the brief but costly exit.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Overcomes two picks against Titans

Jalen Hurts completed 26 of 37 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 24-20 win over Tennessee. He added 16 yards on five carries. Both picks led to points for the Titans, including a fourth-quarter field goal that put the home side up 20-17 with less than two minutes left. Hurts atoned for his mistakes, however, leading a nine-play, 65-yard drive that was capped by a three-yard TD strike to Darius Cooper that won the game. Hurts has already thrown five touchdowns in two games after tossing a career-high 25 in 16 regular-season contests in 2025, and he'll look to keep that momentum going in a Week 3 road trip to Chicago.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Tosses three TDs in Week 1 win

Jalen Hurts completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 203 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 24-22 win against the Commanders. He added seven carries for 46 yards on the ground.Hurts wasn't particularly efficient, but he made big completions when needed, including a 17-yard connection with Dallas Goedert in the second quarter, a nine-yard TD pass to Dontayvion Wicks later in the same period and another scoring pass to Goedert -- this time a 43-yarder -- in the fourth. Hurts also boosted his fantasy total on the ground with 46 yards, which was well above his average during the regular season last year. Hurts is playing in a new offense this season, and the veteran QB's Week 1 results were mostly promising. The Philadelphia Eagles should be a heavy favorite next Sunday against a Tennessee team that struggled mightily in a Week 1 loss to the Jets.
