York and Charlie Smyth will compete for the Saints' placekicker job, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
The Saints waived Blake Grupe on Tuesday and then added York to the practice squad, where Smyth already resides. Both York and Smyth are known for leg strength more so than accuracy, with York having made just 33 of 45 field-goal attempts (73.3 percent) in his NFL career.
