Chargers running back Ryan Mathews shredded the Chiefs' backups for 144 yards on 24 carries, his sixth 100-yard game this season. Mathews finished the regular season with career bests in carries (285) and rushing yards (1,255) as he became the first Charger to reach 1,200 rushing yards since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2007.
Mathews, who added two catches on three targets for 11 yards, ran for at least 99 yards in his last four games and lost only one fumble all year. He scored seven touchdowns, tying the career high he set as a rookie in 2010.
