Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) is expected to be fine for Week 17 vs. the Chiefs, reports ESPN.com. Coach Mike McCoy noted Mathews was able to return from his injury in Sunday's win over Oakland.
“We're not going to just put him back into the game to put him in the game,” McCoy said, per the website. “So we make those decisions as the game goes along. If the medical staff says he's fine to play, he's going to play, just like every other player on our team."
Mathews wore a protective boot after the game.
