Lamar Miller should not be assumed to be the starting running back for the Dolphins, the Miami Herald reports. Though Miller has taken a huge portion of the first-team reps throughout the spring and early days of training camp, the team still thinks Daniel Thomas can put together a big season if he can stay healthy.

Miller is one of Jamey Eisenberg's breakout candidates for 2013 and has set a not-unrealistic goal of 1,500 yards this season. This could be a smoke screen by the Dolphins hoping to flip Thomas for something via trade before the end of the preseason or just a way to keep Miller grounded since he technically hasn't earned the top role -- yet.
