Redskins running back Matt Jones started Thursday's game against the Giants, but he only managed 38 yards on 11 carries, and he lost a fumble for the second straight week.
Alfred Morris only had six carries for 19 yards, with Chris Thompson contributing 10 touches (eight receptions) for 86 yards and a touchdown. Thompson actually led the team's running back with 39 snaps, compared to 26 for Jones and 12 for Morris, according to Pro Football Focus. Jones appears to have overtaken Morris as the team's lead back, but all three players figure to have significant roles, with Thompson getting most of the passing-down snaps. Jones started Thursday's game with a few nice runs, but he largely disappeared from the second-half gameplan until he lost a back-breaking fumble at the Giants' goal line in the fourth quarter. Despite his early issues with ball security, Jones will likely get more touches than Morris in Week 4 against the Eagles.
