Washington (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice but was seen working on a side field, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Sidelined since suffering a severe ankle sprain in Week 4, any activity is a step in the right direction for Washington. According to Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site, Washington "looked pretty good" while running and performing drills with the training staff. If he's able to return to practice in some capacity Friday, Washington could be in line for the start at running back due to Theo Riddick's (ankle) pair of absences to start Week 6 prep. However, the Lions do boast two healthy RBs in Zach Zenner and recent addition Justin Forsett at the moment, so they could be called upon if Washington and Riddick are unable to give it a go Sunday against the Rams.
