Coach Jim Caldwell said Friday that Washington will be the team's primary kick returner, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
While Washington is not expected to play a crucial part in the Lions' run game this season, as he'll likely be nothing more than an occasional short-yardage back, he'll have the opportunity to be a key contributor on special teams. He returned two kicks for 46 yards in his rookie season with Detroit last year.
