The Chiefs have ruled out Brown (shoulder) for Thursday's season opener versus the Ravens.
Head coach Andy Reid had already previously acknowledged that Brown would sit out the Week 1 matchup, but the team has now made the news official. Brown didn't practice in any fashion leading up to Thursday's contest, so he'll need to get some reps under his belt during the upcoming week to have a chance at making his Chiefs debut Sept. 15 against the Bengals. In his absence Thursday, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson are likely to lead the Chiefs' Week 1 receiver corps, with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman also in the mix.
