Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Returns to practice

The Chiefs designated Edwards-Helaire (knee) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Edwards-Helaire will thus resume practicing Wednesday while opening a 21-day window for the Chiefs to either reinstate him to the active roster or place him on IR for the rest of the season. The target date for a game appearance presumably is this Sunday in Las Vegas or Week 11 against Dallas, considering the Chiefs have a bye on tap Week 12. Fill-in starter Darrel Williams has been functional for both the Chiefs and fantasy managers thanks to his pass catching and blocking, but he's averaging only 3.6 yards per carry for the season and 3.5 since taking on the starting role.
