Ravens backup running back Bernard Pierce got the start but left early with an apparent head injury Saturday against Washington in preseason play.

Pierce struggled early on and was stuffed on a fourth-and-1 on the opening drive, turning the ball over. He then took a shot by Brandon Merriweather on the third series and was escorted back to the locker room for further evaluation. He had four carries for minus-3 yards and one catch for 3 yards before leaving the game.
