  • Steven Adams C | HOU

Rockets' Steven Adams: Logs 14 minutes in return

Adams totaled two points (1-1 FG), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 14 minutes during Friday's 135-117 preseason win over the Mavericks.

Adams returned to the court after undergoing ankle surgery in January, playing his usual role off the bench. Although his skill set doesn't really lend itself to viable fantasy value, Adams' importance to the Rockets cannot be overstated. He will presumably serve as the primary backup behind Alperen Sengun, typically logging minutes in the mid to high teens.

  • Rafael Castro PF | LAL

Lakers' Rafael Castro: Inks deal with LAL

Castro signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Lakers on Friday, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.

Castro is set to compete for a spot on the Lakers' regular-season roster, though Los Angeles can waive him at any time since the organization owns his G League rights. In his senior season at George Washington, he averaged 15.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

  • Zach Edey C | MEM

Grizzlies' Zach Edey: More minutes on tap

Edey will play in Friday's preseason game against the Bulls and is expected to see an uptick in minutes, Rob Fischer of FanDuel Sports Network Southeast reports.

Edey made his 2026 preseason debut in Wednesday's loss to Orlando, posting two points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 10 minutes. He underwent surgeries on his left elbow and ankle in March, and the big man will likely continue ramping up his workload ahead of the regular season.

  • Zach Collins C | CHI

Bulls' Zach Collins: Sitting out Friday

Collins (toe) won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Grizzlies, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

Collins is sitting out this exhibition but is nearing a return to the floor. The big man's next opportunity to suit up comes Sunday in Denver.

  • Christian Koloko: Waived by New Orleans

Koloko was waived by the Pelicans on Friday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.

Koloko won't make the Pelicans' regular-season roster after signing with the team in July. The big man bounced around the league in 2025-26, averaging 2.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 13.2 minutes per game across 27 regular-season appearances (four starts) between the Hawks, Grizzlies and Lakers.

  • Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Plays off bench in opener

Gafford produced seven points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal in eight minutes during Friday's 135-117 preseason loss to the Rockets.

In an interesting move, new head coach Dusty May opted to start a small-ball lineup of Cooper Flagg, Max Christie, Naji Marshall, Zaccharie Risacher and rookie Morez Johnson in the Mavericks' preseason opener, notably leaving Gafford to play off the bench. It's unclear if this trend will continue in the regular season, but with Dallas' frontcourt banged up, including a cloudy return timeline for Dereck Lively (foot), Gafford may need to play heavy minutes even if he operates off the bench.

  • Clint Capela C | HOU

Rockets' Clint Capela: Doesn't play Friday

Capela (coach's decision) did not play during Friday's 135-117 preseason win over the Mavericks.

Capela, Marcus Smart and Jae'Sean Tate didn't leave the bench during the preseason opener, but there were no injuries reported. Capela is slated to be the third-string center behind Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams this season.

  • Alex Sarr C | WAS

Wizards' Alex Sarr: Trending in right direction

Wizards head coach Brian Keefe said Friday that Sarr (foot) is trending in a positive direction regarding his availability, though his status for Saturday's preseason game remains uncertain, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

Keefe indicated that a decision on Sarr's availability will be made Saturday, suggesting the big man could be nearing a return to game action. Even if Sarr is cleared to play, Washington could manage his workload during the preseason.

  • Spurs' Tarris Reed: Collects six boards

Reed recorded two points (0-2 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes during Thursday's 123-116 preseason loss to Atlanta.

Reed struggled to generate offense but made his presence felt on the glass, collecting two offensive rebounds while avoiding turnovers. The rookie center received an extended opportunity in the second half, although his path to regular-season minutes remains difficult with Victor Wembanyama and Luke Kornet ahead of him in San Antonio's frontcourt rotation.

  • Luke Kornet C | SA

Spurs' Luke Kornet: Solid in limited run

Kornet recorded six points (2-5 FG, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block in 15 minutes during Thursday's 123-116 preseason loss to Atlanta.

Kornet provided steady production off the bench, collecting two offensive rebounds while protecting the rim. The veteran center figures to continue serving as a reserve behind Victor Wembanyama, limiting his fantasy appeal outside deeper formats. However, his rebounding and shot-blocking abilities could make him a useful streaming option if additional playing time becomes available.
