The Celtics are waiving Luis, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Luis had a two-way contract with Boston, but he was unable to maintain his grip on the roster during training camp. The St. John's product went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, and he'll hope to either find a home elsewhere ahead of the new year or perhaps join the G League's Maine Celtics otherwise.

Luis didn't appear in a Summer League game due to left knee soreness, but he's since been traded from Utah to Boston and recovered from the injury. The undrafted rookie was effective in limited action, but he'll have a tough path to regular-season minutes with the Celtics.

Luis will remain sidelined for a seventh straight contest due to left knee soreness, and it doesn't appear as though he'll be able to make his professional debut during the Summer League at this point. With Utah missing several key players Friday, Elijah Harkless and Max Abmas should be in line for a boost in ball-handling duties.

The St. John's product has still yet to make his Summer League debut, with his next opportunity to suit up coming Wednesday against the Wizards.
