Cubs reliever Zach Putnam has a bone spur in his elbow, according to ESPNChicago.com.
The injury was confirmed by manager Dale Sveum. The team knew Putnam had a bone spur but had him undergo an MRI to make sure there was no other damage to the arm. Putnam has not spoken to the doctor regarding the MRI results.
In 3 1/3 innings, Putnam has an 18.90 ERA.
