The Yankees placed Weathers on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a left forearm flexor strain.

While the Yankees haven't laid out a recovery timeline or treatment plan for Weathers, the southpaw said that initial tests revealed showed that his UCL is intact, and he's optimistic that he'll be able to pitch again this season, per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. However, Weathers noted that he dealt with a similar injury last season with the Marlins and missed around a month, so it's reasonable to expect him to miss beyond the minimum 15 days this time around. Weathers' move to the shelf should extend Will Warren's time in the rotation, as the latter pitcher previously appeared to be at risk of moving to the bullpen once Max Fried (elbow) returns from the IL.
