Gilbert cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Charlotte, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Gilbert lost his place on Chicago's 40-man roster after giving up eight earned runs in six innings with the big club. He owns a more respectable 4.64 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 33 frames at Charlotte, where he is likely to play out the remainder of the season.
