Hudson will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher during Wednesday's game against the Royals, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hudson has been one of the White Sox's most reliable bullpen arms this season, turning in a 3.03 ERA and 1.21 WHIP through 65.1 innings, but he'll now be called upon to lock down the first inning of Wednesday's contest. Erick Fedde is expected to pitch in bulk relief once Hudson leaves the game.
