Freeman is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Cubs on Friday.
Freeman will be on the bench for the start of Friday's game while Yanquiel Fernandez serves as the designated hitter and bats eighth. Freeman has slashed .245/.311/.319 with 10 runs scored, five steals, one home run and seven RBI in 102 plate appearances since Aug. 1.
