McLain started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to the Dodgers.
McLain was back in the lineup after missing three games due to a left shoulder injury. The Reds downplayed the severity of the issue and welcomed back their primary second baseman Tuesday. McLain, who will attempt to finish a trying season on a positive note, is batting just .129 (4-for-31) this month and .186 for the season.
