The Padres recalled Batten from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old has been with Triple-A El Paso since late April but will join the Friars on Tuesday as Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder) heads to the injured list. Batten should serve as a depth infielder while up in the big leagues and likely won't see regular at-bats.
