Lamet returned from the 10-day injured list Wednesday and pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen while allowing one hit and striking out three.
Lamet was finally activated ahead of Wednesday's game after missing over two months due to forearm and hip injuries. He allowed a double to Josh Rojas but was able to strike out the side and leave Rojas stranded in scoring position. Lamet acted as a starter earlier in the year but is expected to serve out of the bullpen for the time being, as the Padres should have a fully healthy rotation with Jake Arrieta (hamstring) expected to return and start Friday's game against the Astros.
