The Dodgers designated Lamet for assignment Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Lamet earned the first save of his career Wednesday against the Giants, but he will now be jettisoned off the Dodgers' 40-man roster. His spot will be given to Gus Varland, who was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.
