The Nationals acquired Short from the Yankees on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations.
Short wasn't able to make Yankees' Opening Day roster as a non-roster invitee, and he won't be on the Nationals' big-league roster, either. However, the veteran infielder should have a better chance at earning an opportunity down the line on a rebuilding Washington club.
