The Mets selected Sproat's contract from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of his scheduled start Sunday in Cincinnati.

Sproat becomes the Mets' third major prospect to join the rotation after Jonah Tong and Nolan McLean both received call-ups in recent weeks.
