The Marlins activated Fairbanks (hand) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
As expected, Fairbanks required only a minimum 15-day absence while recovering from right medial nerve irritation in his pitching hand. Fairbanks did not make any rehab appearances, but he will likely be immediately thrown back into the closer role after a relatively brief absence.
