The Cubs traded Long and Jace Beck to the Marlins on Monday in exchange for Braxton Garrett, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Long had been blocked at Triple-A while in the Cubs organization for the past couple years, but he is also having a worse season this year (108 wRC+) at Triple-A than he did last year (131 wRC+). A righty-hitting first baseman and left fielder, Long is slashing .283/.364/.455 with 12 home runs and a 21.2 percent strikeout rate in 99 games as a 24-year-old.
