Colon was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

With Martin Prado (hamstring) returning from a long stay on the disabled list, Colon was no longer needed as third base depth. The 28-year-old slashed just .152/.243/.182 in 33 at-bats for the Marlins, and carries a combined .160/.236/.180 triple slash in 50 at-bats between Miami and Kansas City this season.
