Pruitt's contract was selected by the Marlins prior to Friday's game against the Reds, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Pruitt was DFA'd by Miami on Aug. 5 but wound up heading to Triple-A Jacksonville after clearing waivers. He'll now return to the big leagues with Cody Poteet (knee) moving to the 60-day IL in order to make room on the 40-man roster. Pruitt has logged just 3.2 major-league innings this year, allowing two runs on a pair of solo homers.
