The Mariners designated Fairchild for assignment Tuesday.
Fairchild's stint in the majors lasted just five days after his contract was selected by Seattle on Thursday. Victor Robles (personal) will replace Fairchild on the active roster. The 30-year-old Fairchild did not appear in any games for the Mariners.
