The Guardians optioned Martinez to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
The 22-year-old had operated as Cleveland's primary center fielder, but he'll head back to the minors after posting a .236/.306/.373 slash line in 31 games. Will Brennan was recalled in a corresponding move, but it'll likely be a combination of Lane Thomas and Tyler Freeman that take over in center field.
