Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said Tuesday that Martinez "avoided something major" after he exited Monday's loss with discomfort in his side, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Martinez was held out of Tuesday's game as was Chase DeLauter (wrist), which led to Petey Halpin drawing a start in the outfield. Martinez has a .248/.285/.443 slash line in 2026 and improved his OPS by 100 points from 2025.
